Hello to all and thanks for your website.
I have a red rattler at my home at Ourimbah on the central coast, number T4386.it doesn’t have bogies and has been fitted out to live in.
It still has the original windows and unconverted guards room.I am in the process of starting to renovate the exterior (rust removal etc) and am trying to source the correct paint for the roof(silver frost?) at the moment.Do you have any idea where I could purchase the paint as I would like to keep the exterior colours as close to the original design as possible.I hope to get a ride on your train one of these days.
Thanks,
Brandon smith.
Hi Brandon.
Yes the common paint used on the roofs is Dulux Silvasheen which is available at all good paint stores. Preparation is everything. The best way to get the old paint off is with high pressure water or compressed air. Once the water or air gets under the old paint it just flakes off. Simple sand over the result and then over the top with a few coats of silvasheen and you’re good to go!
Hi Paul.
I was on the trip on 20/9
I would like to donate some additional money for the losses incurred.
Please provide details on how I can do this.
Hi Daniel
Best way to donate is to come on another tour! We have one coming up on 19th December which will be advertised soon. Stay tuned to this web site!
What a fabulous thing. I wish my husband was still alive so we could go. We would both love it. Good on you.
